Fortem to launch second training academy in Rotherham

Fortem are launching a second specialist repairs and maintenance training centre, The Northern 4Life Academy, after delivering over 32,000 hours of training at their Midlands Academy last year.
The Northern 4Life Academy will run in tandem to their current Midlands 4Life Academy but will be located in the heart of Rotherham, where Fortem have been delivering repairs, maintenance and voids services on behalf of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for almost a decade. The vision of the 4Life Academies is to offer high quality, agile training solutions which meet the growing and changing needs of our business and clients.
To enable the innovative development, the 4Life Academy will have professional bays for plumbing repairs and maintenance, carpentry, electrical and roofing, along with new classrooms that will enable support for self-development and the nurturing of talent.
The second Academy is being launched after Fortem’s Midlands Academy, located in Aston, Birmingham, saw over 6,800 attendees receive training last year, with 52% of all courses delivered through its own internal experts.
Fortem’s “growing our own” initiative plays a key role in shaping the company’s culture and people. Fortem invested over £1.1 million into its workforce last year, whilst also supporting 80 of their client’s caretakers through training and development at the Academy.
Ann-Marie Steele, Head of Academies & Learning at Fortem, said, “Our 4life Academies offer industry leading training and play a key role in enabling Fortem, our clients and our supply chain to meet future service needs and continued growth.
“By thinking differently and challenging the way we deliver training and learning, we want to inspire people to achieve their full potential.
“A second Academy running alongside our existing one will enable us to deliver more training, to more people, reaching and leaving a legacy in even more of the communities we work in.”
Fortem’s Northern Academy will be operational from September 2019, with an official launch on 3rd October.
