Client: London Borough of Islington
We installed more than 2000 solar panels to 3 council-owned buildings, saving 190 tonnes of CO2 per year. This design and build contract was procured under the Green Services Hub framework to minimise lead in time and enable London Borough of Islington to take advantage of the higher Feed in Tariff rate available.
A 230kWp system was installed at the Re-Use and Recycle Centre, a 250kWp array at Sobell Leisure Centre and 29kWp system at the Customer Service Centre. The installations will see the council save on its electricity bills and receive an income from the Feed-in Tariff (FiT). We designed the schemes and produced a full technical specification and transparent pricing for Islington within a 5 week period.
Key Successes
- Cost / benefit analysis produced for Islington to optimise the design and capacity of the PV system, considering funding & and FiT constraints
- Installs completed in tight deadline before reduction in Feed -in Tariff.
- via Green Services Hub which enabled the client to take advantage of higher rate FiT
"The solar panels are a win-win for the council and residents. Not only will they significantly reduce the council’s carbon footprint and electricity bills, they will also generate much-needed income, helping to reduce the pressure on the council’s budget in the long-term and help protect us against fluctuating electricity prices."
